03 Dec 24 – The Hermit: The Priest Who Saved a Soul

Today’s Topics:

1) Gospel – Lk 10:21-24 – Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will. All things have been handed over to Me by My Father. No one knows Who the Son is except the Father, and Who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal Him.”

Turning to the disciples in private He said, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I say to you, many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it.”

Bishop Sheen quote of the day

2, 3, 4) Kevin Wells on his latest book: The Hermit, The Priest Who Saved a Soul, a Marriage, and a Family, (Ignatius Press). It is the raw story of how a Priest-turned-hermit saved Kevin’s wife, Krista, from an addiction to binge drinking. The masterpiece of his work to help to remove Krista’s long-held (mother wound) of the demon of shame came during Covid-19. When the worldwide Church shut down – Father Martin Flum intensified his work and priesthood, because he knew folks like Krista needed the aid of the Sacraments, the Mass, and intensive spiritual direction. Krista asked Kevin to pull back the curtains on many years of the dark night of their marriage to show what a holy and muscular priest did to save her soul
