He has written or produced two dozen films, including THE CASE FOR CHRIST, CAPTIVE and NOT EASILY BROKEN, and nearly 300 episodes of network television, including TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL, STEP BY STEP and EVENING SHADE. When Calls the Heart is Hallmark Channel’s flagship TV series and the No. 2 top-rated scripted show in all of Cable for 2019. It is now in pre-production of Season 7, which will launch in early 2020. The show was co-created and is executive produced by Brian Bird and Michael Landon, Jr. Based on the novel by best-selling inspirational author, Janette Oke, When Calls the Heart chronicles the life and journey of Elizabeth Thatcher, as big-city teacher from a wealthy Eastern family, who moves west to teach school in a hard-scrabble coal mining town in 1910. And there she finds herself and her purpose in life, and falls in love with a handsome Canadian Mountie.
