1) In the first segment the history of Our Lady of the Pillar is discussed; how Our Heavenly Mother has interceded on the behalf of the faithful who seek to evangelize for her Son. Our Lady’s first apparition was a bi-location to Saint James the Greater, in his hour of need, and allowed him to succeed in his mission in what is now Spain,
2) In the year 1326 in Extremadura, Spain, Our Lady appeared to a shepherd to tell him about a hidden treasure. This treasure is an image believed to painted by Saint Luke. Devotion to Mary through this image results in many victories against the Muslim invaders in Europa including the Battle of Lepanto and the Spanish victory in Grenada. The Catholic Spanish Monarchs Ferdinand and Isabella also have a devotion to Our Lady and through her intercession are able to unite Spain under a single rule,
3) Columbus makes his voyage to the New World thanks to the intercession and under the patronage of The Virgin Mary. There are many instances of his Marian devotion during the initial voyage. It started on the feast of Our Lady of the Angels (Aug. 2), sighting land and debarking the ship on the feast of Our Lady of the Pillar (Oct. 12) and the Celebration of the first Mass in the New World on the feast of the Immaculate Conception (Dec. 8),
4) Mary is the intercessor for all Catholics but particularly for the Evangelists. She is a powerful intercessor for the Knights of Columbus who are under her Patronage through Our Lady of Guadalupe. Mark talks about his trip to New Haven and shows a video montage of that trip to the Knights of Columbus College Council Conference. He and the young men who joined him, asked for Our Lady’s intercession to convey them safely there and back as well as to inspire them to lead the men at their respective colleges in increasing their faith in Christ.
