21 Feb 22 – Pray Like A Knight

Today’s Topics:

1)  The Baltimore Catechism teaches us that, “prayer is the lifting up of our minds and hearts to God, to adore Him, to thank Him for His benefits, to ask His forgiveness, and to beg of Him all the graces we need whether for soul or body.”  Fulton Sheen expresses prayers as lifting our hearts and minds to God,

2)  Greg talks about the different kinds of mental and vocal prayer.  Mark conveys how the St. Michael’s Shield Prayer Group grappled with their prayers of petition among the men, whether it should be silent or vocal.  It was decided that hearing each other’s prayers lead to a greater fraternity,

3)  In this segment, “How should we pray?” was discussed:  With attention; With a sense of our own helplessness and dependence upon God; With a great desire for the graces we beg of God; With trust in God’s goodness; and with perseverance,

4)  In the last segment Greg and Mark talk about how Knights of Old prayed and how today’s Knights of Columbus model themselves after them.  The Knights of Columbus lead many of their meetings with a rosary and they have programs such as Spiritual Reflection; Holy Hour; Into the Breach; Building the Domestic Church; and the Blessed Michael McGivney Prayer Hour.
