Segment 1: News and a Memorial Day Memorandum from Barbara Segment 2: Interview with Christopher Foley Segment 3: Continued Interview Segment 4: Film review of Trial By Fire Across: The Father Tolton Movie Across is the feature film story of Father Augustine Tolton, the first African American Catholic priest. The producers completed a short film which tells the story of Gus’s attempted escape from slavery in 1863. Now that the short has screened at a number of festivals, development of the feature has gained momentum. With development and financing already under way, the goal is to finish the 2-hour film by 2020. Christopher Foley – Screenwriter/Producer/Director Chris has been working in Film/TV production for two decades. He started in Television News in his hometown of Rochester, New York while earning his Masters in Film/Video. Chris got distribution for his first no-budget feature, Dioscuri. He has sold/optioned three feature scripts and has won numerous Screenwriting awards, including first place at Worldfest and semi-finalist at the Academy’s Nicholl Fellowship. He spent a decade in Los Angeles as AD, UPM, and Editor before moving to Nashville to work for Country Music Television. His company, Bolder Pictures, has written, directed and produced hundreds of commercials and marketing videos for clients ranging from the Milwaukee Brewers to Toro Lawnmowers. Chris also taught Film and Screenwriting at Tennessee State University and Nashville Film Institute. He is currently developing his short film and screenplay, Across, into a feature film about the life of the first African American Priest.
