09 Aug 22 – Cardinal Müller Criticizes the German “Synodal Way”

Today’s Topics:

1) Gospel – MT 18:1-5, 10, 12-14 – If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray, will he not leave the ninety-nine in the hills and go in search of the stray? And if he finds it, amen, I say to you, he rejoices more over it than over the ninety-nine that did not stray.

Bishop Sheen quote of the day

Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross, pray for us!

2) Seven-minute homily on Saint Ambrose standing up to Emperor Theodosius, and Cardinal Hollerich (leftist) short clip stating we need to change the teachings of the Church on homosexuality

3) Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller, prefect emeritus of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, has sharply criticized the “Synodal Way,” a movement among Catholics in Germany that aims to destabilize and uproot core teachings of the Church. In an interview, the 74-year-old Cardinal said that the “Synodal Way,” declared a “reform process” by its initiators, is “over” and was on an“anti-Catholic, wrong track.”

4) Father Brian Graebe, pastor of the Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral in New York, wrote a column pushing back on Father James Martin, SJ, who recently wrote against denying Communion to persistently pro-abortion Catholic politicians. “Church leaders have a responsibility to correct those who use the powers of their public offices to promote, facilitate and expand access to the unique evil of abortion,” Graebe wrote. While denying Communion is a “last resort, reserved for the most egregious violations of justice, enabling the killing of unborn children far exceeds that threshold”
